Botox & Jeuveau In Woodstock
While neurotoxins like Botox have traditionally been used to smooth wrinkles and reduce the appearance of fine lines to restore your youthful glow, there's even more that these injectables can do. Botox / Jeuveau can also be administered to reduce a gummy smile, alleviate myofascial pain, and soothe symptoms of TMJ/TMD. Because your orthodontist is an expert in facial anatomy, they are an ideal provider of neurotoxin therapy.

The Benefits of Botox
Smoothes Wrinkles and Fine Lines
Botox evens out lines around the eyes, mouth, and forehead by relaxing specific muscles. This leaves you with a rejuvenated appearance for months.
Reduces Appearance of Gummy Smile
Does your smile show too much of the upper gum line? Botox can help reduce the appearance of a gummy smile by relaxing the muscles of the upper lip.
Alleviates TMJ and Myofascial Pain
TMJ disorders are often caused by excessive tension of the chewing muscles. Botox can help ease the tension on these strained muscles, and your jaw can function with ease.

Botox results are not instant. Although you may notice some change after the first couple of days, most patients see and feel the complete results of Botox injections after 10-14 days.
Botox usually lasts about 3-4 months before requiring another round of injections. To maintain the results of your treatment, maintenance sessions will be needed.
Botox has been shown to be effective in relieving patients of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD) symptoms if caused by muscle strain. The symptoms of TMD often include pain or tenderness in the jaw or around the ear, headaches, and pain while chewing. Botox targets the muscles of mastication, causing them to relax, which reduces strain on the whole TMJ system.
Orthodontists are experts at more than just teeth. Dr. Pelt has extensive knowledge of the face and jaw and is AAFE trained to inject Botox for both aesthetics and TMD pain relief. For patients with TMJ dysfunction or bruxism, Botox may be used in conjunction with a nightguard to minimize pain and tooth damage from clenching and grinding.
